2014 Refocused

The first day of 2014 is almost over, and for me personally it is time to refocus on things that I love. I have spent a good long time not doing the things that I enjoy doing because of just life happening and that consuming my time, and just energy with all that seemingly endless shit that is going with me. But that is not to deter me from goals I had been pursuing for years until I hit my break. I do truly miss doing my photography and making video’s, motorcycles and generally enjoying life. But the good news is that it is still winter so things are still calm people wise which affords me chances to get out and restart without losing focus and distraction. I am looking to meeting up with another local photographer whom I’ve said something about meeting up almost a year ago.

As far as 2013, well it was a rough year, just a shit ton of things going on family wise coupled with my own personal issues. But most of those things have passed, and my own issues well those are things I have to learn about as they come forward and then live with.

I don’t believe I ever posted this photo on Tumblr before. This was my first mountain ride when I moved back to Virginia when I left Active Duty Navy in 2009.
Now how I ended up going on this ride well that was unplanned. Basically I had been all over google maps looking for roads in Goochland/Powhatan Counties in Virginia to ride. So I was making my way up SR 711 (Huguenot Trail) and as I came up upon the intersection of the 711 and 522, there was a BP gas station on my right. 2 guys with motorcycles at the pumps, they heard me coming down the road, and one guy just threw his arms up at me. So I went around and pulled into the BP and asked if they knew some good roads. Basically I was told we’ll that’s where we are going, and so it began for me, the at least 100 trips up to SR 56 along the part named “Crabtree Falls HWY” and many other roads in the western part of Virginia.

Note* Once time me and a buddy counted what we considered turns on google maps, and I think the 10 or 11 miles stretch of this road that goes through George Washington park I know we counted over 200 turns.

I used to ride motorcycles, and have been following On the Throttle TV (OTT) for several years now. The last episode from them concerning James Compton and Jake Holden’s journey of riding in Pike Peak was months ago. They just put out the last episode, it’s a mini movie and well worth watching, not so much for the motorcycle part, but just for the life experience part. Excellent work to the guys at OTT and also to James and Jake and for making it up the mountain and staying safe.

Michael Jordan Motorsports getting off to a great start at Homestead in Miami. Both Roger and Ben were under the lap record for the track. Hope nothing but the best for Jordan and his team for the 2012 season. It is quite nice to see a privateer team competing for the podium and maybe the championship this year.

Quite a beautiful off season motorcycle video I found online. Simple yet powerful amazing work.

Feeling Honored

Well today I got a comment on my latest video I posted on Youtube. I was checking my email at work and low and behold Dr.Sardonicus (Marc Clarke) himself said this  ”Great job on the video; awesome road.” I was like WOW, I couldn’t believe the man himself commented on my stuff.

Just a brief history on Dr.Sard, he made what I consider to be some of the best motorcycle riding video’s I have ever seen. And he did most of them between 2003-2006 before Youtube, nice HD POV cameras, easily accessible high speed internet, and easy to use video editors even were around.

2011 is almost done with and 2012 is right around the corner. 9OneOne Racing based out of the Richmond Area is gearing up for the 2012 season. Once again here’s a video show casing the team.

Any support is more than welcome, or if anyone knows a business that would like to donate and or be a sponsor that would be even better. For more information you can contact 9OneOne Racing via facebook here
